Kevin Durant focused on moving past Draymond Green feud
Kevin Durant has weighed in on how he’s moving past his well-publicized feud with Draymond Green, saying a more intense focus on basketball has proved beneficial in that regard.
Not only that, Durant added that the Golden State Warriors have been able to overcome the distractions spawned by the dissonance between himself and Green by using it as a rallying point.
“I just try to stay focused on ball and lose myself in the game,” Durant said, via The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “There were times where I don’t shoot the ball well, times where the game doesn’t go my way, but I try to get lost in the game to get through a time like that. Adversity happens everywhere, happens to teams, and we rallied around it. It happens, and you lean on your love for the game.
Durant has been notoriously reluctant to publicly address his feud with Green, so the fact he’s discussing it at this point indicates perhaps the fallout stemming from the teammates’ on-court confrontation last month could be nearing its end. Further, Green has also appeared to signal tensions between himself and Durant are a thing of the past.
The Durant-Green feud seemingly exposed fissures in the Warriors’ solid foundation. If Durant is correct in stating the Warriors utilized the conflict as a rallying point, perhaps the team will be able to reset after a relatively rough start to the season and focus on building towards a fifth consecutive appearance in the NBA Finals and a fourth title in that same span.
