Joel Embiid has no problem revealing bout with digestive issue
Joel Embiid returned to action Monday night, and the superstar led the way in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 116-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Embiid filled the stat sheet in the win with 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. The fact that Embiid played so well despite battling two health-related issues makes his night that much more impressive.
Embiid missed Sunday’s practice after being sat for Friday’s game, which Sixers head coach Brett Brown said was for rest. The weekend also included Embiid expressing unhappiness over his role in the offense since the arrival of Jimmy Butler.
Things appear to be back trending in the right direction for Embiid, save for two issues. Embiid revealed after the game, in incredibly succinct fashion, that he was dealing with a migraine and … diarrhea.
A lot of people would have glossed over the latter malady by using a more sterile, less detailed term such as “stomach issue” or “digestive distress,” like when Brown referred to Embiid’s condition as “flu-like symptoms.” Not Embiid. He played it straight.
“I had a migraine and diarrhea,” Embiid said after the game, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.
There you have it. No reason to sugarcoat it.
