Ice Cube weighs in on Lamar Odom’s bid to join BIG3
BIG3 founder Ice Cube has some advice for Lamar Odom as he attempts to resurrect his professional basketball career by possibly joining the 3-on-3 league: Put in the work.
“He’s still gotta try out like everybody else,” Ice Cube said of Odom while casually speaking with a TMZ Sports camera crew.
Odom, who spent 14 seasons in the NBA, recently was featured in an Instagram post working out ahead of BIG3’s upcoming combine.
Ice Cube believes what’s featured in the footage is a step in the right direction, but he and his league evidently have to see more out of Odom.
“Get healthy, get in shape and get to the combine,” Ice Cube said.
It does not appear that the BIG3 has scheduled its combine ahead of next season. If it is anything like 2018, when it was held in April a day before the league’s draft, Odom has plenty of time to get back into basketball shape.
Odom of course has experienced some serious troubles off the court since the end of his NBA career, including an overdose in 2015 that nearly killed him. There have been some setbacks here and there since then, but Odom seems to have mostly turned the corner of late. If Odom is indeed serious about joining the BIG3, it sounds like Ice Cube and Co. will give him a fair shake.
