Noah Syndergaard tweets reaction to Mets GM addressing trade rumors

Noah Syndergaard took to Twitter on Tuesday to issue a reaction to what New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen had to say earlier in the day about the prospects of the team trading the standout pitcher.

It goes without saying that Syndergaard was left pleased by the new Mets general manager’s take on the situation.

As Syndergaard’s tweet notes, Van Wagenen, while not explicitly ruling out a trade of the ace — something that appeared somewhat likely as recently as last week — made it clear it’s not the organization’s preference at this time.

“Noah Syndergaard is critical to what we’re trying to do now,” Van Wagenen said Tuesday, via The Athletic’s Tim Britton. “It would have to be very special circumstances for us to even consider moving Noah Syndergaard.”

Also, it merits noting that the “Strongest Avenger” line in Syndergaard’s tweet is presumably a reference to his popular “Thor” moniker, something he riffs on from time to time on Twitter.

Further, this is not the first time Syndergaard has taken to Twitter recently to react to the latest news about him.

Given Syndergaard’s reputation as a social media provocateur who ranks among the best professional athletes on Twitter, perhaps this is not the last thing he’ll have to say on social media about the circumstances of his uncertain, but apparently more secure, future with the Mets.
