Billboard recruiting Kevin Durant to Knicks pops up near MSG
The New York Knicks are considered a potential and legitimate destination for Kevin Durant should the superstar opt to leave the Golden State Warriors in free agency after the season, something one insider believes is already a done deal.
It appears there are some Knicks backers in New York eager to get the recruitment process underway, as a Kevin Durant-themed billboard has sprung up near Madison Square Garden.
The billboard is sponsored by NYC ADS Co., a local ad agency, and Rideshare Knight, a car-sharing company. It asks a point-blank question to Durant: “Can You Make NY Sports Great Again?” along with @easymoneysniper, Durant’s Instagram handle, and the hashtag #KDNY2019.
The artwork features cartoonish versions of Durant and Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis standing alongside each other with the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy in the foreground.

The timing of the billboard could not be more perfect, as Durant and the Warriors make their only visit to The Big Apple of the season for a showdown with the Knicks at MSG on Friday night.
Interestingly, the billboard has been set up in the exact same place as a LeBron James one last season ahead of The King’s free-agency frenzy, which spawned an insane billboard recruitment craze in its own right.
Durant has insisted he will be “transparent” about his free agency during the season. Although the Warriors star bristled the very first time it was mentioned by a reporter, answering with an annoyed response after Golden State’s first game for the season. It’s safe to assume, then, that Durant will have no interest in weighing in on the new Knicks recruitment billboard when speaking with the New York media.
