MLB Twitter savagely trolls Yankees after ALDS loss to Red Sox

If the New York Yankees and their fans were not smarting enough after a humbling 3-1 ALDS loss to the hated Boston Red Sox, now Major League Baseball’s official Twitter account is rubbing salt in their fresh wounds.

The Yankees managed to force two games in the Bronx thanks to a Game 2 victory at Fenway Park, but it only served to delay the inevitable and prolong their misery. After all, the Yankees were throttled 16-1 in a humiliating Game 3 loss on Monday and lost a heartbreaker to their fierce rivals on Wednesday night when a desperate ninth-inning rally fell short in a 4-3 Game 4 elimination loss.

And here’s how MLB Twitter acknowledged Boston’s on-the-road rundown of the Yankees in the Bronx.

Oof. Lady Liberty rocking a BoSox jersey? That’s gotta hurt.

Still, one has to wonder what stings for the Yankees and their fans: The above savage tweet or how the Yankees’ trademark victory song, “New York, New York” — which the above tweet of course  also references — was being blasted in Boston’s Yankee Stadium clubhouse following the series-clinching win?

Let’s call it a tie.
