DeMarcus Cousins praises Warriors: ‘Everything is built for success’
DeMarcus Cousins understands just how lucky he is to have fallen into an ideal situation by signing with the Golden State Warriors this past offseason.
And it hasn’t taken long for the superstar center to realize that all the Warriors’ success begins and ends with how meticulously the organization goes about its business.
“It’s not even a team, it’s an entire organization,” Cousins told Bob Fitzgerald and Jim Barnett on the Warriors-Suns broadcast Monday night on NBC Sports Bay Area. “From top to bottom, the way they carry themselves, they’ve built a winning culture here. Everything is built for success, in my opinion.
“Like I said, everyone thinks it’s just the talent on the floor, but this is a machine [that’s] well-oiled and well-built, and that’s from top to bottom.”
Cousins of course stunned the NBA world by joining the loaded Warriors on a one-year, $5.3 million deal on the mid-level exception. Cousins, coming off an Achilles injury suffered in late January, has been accused of chasing a ring by signing with the two-time defending-champion Warriors.
However, Cousins insisted in July in a documentary that he had few other options and joining the Warriors was his “last resort.”
All that said, Cousins is obviously thrilled with his current situation. So much so, in fact, that Cousins actually made a pretty funny comment about how his penchant for earning technical fouls won’t rise to the level of one of his new teammates.
During Monday’s preseason game against the Suns, Cousins stated there’s no way he’ll earn more technicals this season than Draymond Green.

Now that will be an interesting competition between two players who are quite adept at getting T’d up.
