Watch: Madison Bumgarner puts kibosh on Gatorade bath after walkoff hit
Madison Bumgarner would have no part of a celebratory Gatorade bath after coming through in the clutch with a bat in his hands on Tuesday night. A well-executed stiff-arm made that all too clear.
The Giants ace, no slouch at the plate by any stretch, was actually called upon to pinch hit in the 12th inning. And Bumgarner stepped up, hitting a walkoff single to seal a 5-4 victory over the San Diego Padres.

What happened afterward, though, is what made Bumgarner’s walkoff so great. As Giants utilityman Alen Hanson approached the game’s hero with Gatorade jug in hand prepared for a deserving dousing, MadBum simply shrugged off the effort by stiff-arming away the attempt.

Now that’s some serious situational awareness.
Perhaps Bumgarner would have been more amenable to a celebratory shower if the liquid in question had been beer. History has shown us Bumgarner has no issue whatsoever with getting soaked with the suds.
