LeBron James takes to Instagram to react to ‘Space Jam’ sequel news
LeBron James took to social media on Wednesday to react to the big news out of Hollywood about the upcoming “Space Jam” sequel, in which the Los Angeles Lakers superstar will appear in a starring role.
James has long been attached to the “Space Jam” project but the fact it is finally coming to fruition is a thrilling development for him, to no surprise.
Taking to Instagram, James posted an image that has been circulating featuring an imagined locker room featuring stalls of Bugs Bunny and James on the left side. The other two lockers represent the producer and director team on the project.

Ryan Coogler, the co-writer and director of the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster “Black Panther — not to mention co-writer and director of “Rocky” sequel “Creed” — has been attached to the “Space Jam” project as producer. Meanwhile, Terence Nance, perhaps best known as the creator of HBO’s “Random Acts of Flyness,” will serve as the film’s director.
James raved about Coogler’s involvement in the project.
“I loved his vision” for Black Panther, James tells The Hollywood Reporter, noting that when he was a kid growing up in Akron, Ohio, there were no black superheroes. “So for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing.”
The Lakers superstar added how much responsibility he personally feels over his role in the “Space Jam” project.
“The ‘Space Jam’ collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” James said. “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”
