Sean McVay explains remarkable memory: ‘I have no life’
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has on more than one occasion showcased his remarkable memory due to his ability to remember plays in stupefying fashion. McVay has a pretty fantastic — not to mention self-deprecating — reason for his impressive recall talent.
“I have no life,” McVay said, via ESPN. “Other than I love football.”
The 32-year-old Rams coach recently showed off his skills in a Bleacher Report video in which he accurately predicted plays run from seasons ago, simply by being presented with game scenarios.

“It’s not like I’m just recalling it and that’s the only time you’ve ever done it from,” McVay said of his uncanny ability. “These are things that we as coaches always go back through. So, it’s kind of something that you’re always revisiting, especially when it’s relevant plays.”
Whatever the reason and regardless of the nature of his football memory, McVay is utilizing it well, posting a 12-5 record in his first season-plus with the Rams while leading the team to an NFC West title last year.
Still, McVay demonstrated some humility by pointing out his memory is not all that great in areas unrelated to football.
“It is not a joke,” McVay said, “when I say I really do not remember anything else.”
