Anthony Rizzo wears full Cubs uniform on team’s flight to D.C.
Anthony Rizzo had some fun with the Chicago Cubs’ grueling travel schedule this week by donning his full uniform for a team flight out east.
After a crushing 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday that saw the team’s lead in the NL Central dwindle to one game, the Cubs on Thursday embarked upon a trip to D.C. for a makeup game with the Washington Nationals due to a weather-related cancellation last weekend. The team will then return to Chicago for a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds that starts Friday at Wrigley Field.
Making matters worse, the Cubs are in the division race pressure cooker amid a 30-day stretch without a day off. That’s some rough stuff, to say the least.
So, to help the club keep loose, Rizzo opted for some truly unique, if familiar, attire for the flight. The Cubs first baseman took to social media to showcase his airplane duds.

Rizzo was still in full uniform upon arrival at Nationals Park.

Joe Maddon, no stranger to off-the-wall antics to help keep things loose and offbeat in the clubhouse — especially when it comes to themed road trips — certainly appreciated Rizzo’s efforts … but with one caveat.
“I wish he had said something sooner because we could have all done it,” Maddon said, via the Chicago Tribune.
