Dustin Johnson issues statement amid Paulina Gretzky rumors
Dustin Johnson on Tuesday evening issued a brief statement amid rumors of strife in his personal life involving fiancée Paulina Gretzky and whispers of potential infidelity.
“Every relationship goes through its ups and downs, but most importantly, we love each other very much and are committed to being a family,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “Thank you for your love and support.”
The first sign of potential issues arrived on Monday when it was noticed how Gretzky had completely scrubbed Johnson from her popular Instagram account, which boasts over 700,000 followers.
Allegations then surfaced on Tuesday when a report suggested Johnson possibly had an affair with a woman named Yassie Safai, who subsequently and vehemently denied the rumors.
“I am not in a relationship with Dustin Johnson,” Safai said, via TMZ. “Nor have we had any prior relationship.”
Safai went on to explain she had met Johnson a few times at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and briefly spoke to him.
“I am sure he is a great person but we do not have a close friendship,” Safai said of Johnson in the statement. “I have never met Paulina Gretzky and do not know the Gretzky family, but again, I am sure they are great people.”
“I have no insight into the rumors around Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky’s relationship. I wish them nothing but the best. I just want to go back to living my normal life.”
A “deeply connected source” close to Johnson and Gretzky told TMZ that the two are still together. Although the individual could not say why Gretzky scrubbed her Instagram account of Johnson.
Johnson and Gretzky have been together for over five years, becoming engaged in August of 2013. The couple have two children, Tatum Gretzky Johnson, 3, and River Jones Johnson, who was born in June, 2017.
