Watch: Timberwolves unveil Classic black unis that hearken back to KG era

The Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday unveiled their “Classic” uniforms for the 2018-19 NBA season. And the all-black, tree-lined uniforms hearken back to the without question the best era of the Timberwolves franchise, when Kevin Garnett was regularly leading the team to postseason appearances.

The Timberwolves released some of the first images of the “Classic” unis on Twitter.

The Timberwolves, who are also celebrating their 30th anniversary this upcoming season, wore these uniforms from 1996-2008, which was the majority of KG’s time with the team. Drafted ahead of the 1995 season, Garnett spent the first stint of his T-Wolves career in these uniforms, save for his rookie season, before being dealt to the Boston Celtics after the 2006-07 season. KG did return to Minnesota to play a portion of two seasons (2014-15, 2015-16) before retiring.

The Timberwolves announced via the team’s official site that the “Classic” uniforms will debut during an Oct. 31 game against the Utah Jazz at Target Center. The jerseys will be worn four at four additional home games during the season.
