Twitter reacts to Hue Jackson putting injured Tyrod Taylor back in preseason game

Critics on social media are questioning the wisdom of Hue Jackson’s decision to put Tyrod Taylor back on the field after suffering a hand injury during Thursday’s preseason game.

Taylor suffered what was diagnosed as a left wrist injury during the Cleveland Browns’ ugly 5-0 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Eagles in the first quarter. Taylor landed awkwardly on his left arm after passing the ball while scrambling.

Taylor later returned to the sideline and got back into the game after rookie Baker Mayfield got some action with the first-team offense.

The decision to reinsert an injured Taylor into a preseason game not surprisingly left some on Twitter completely baffled.

It merits noting that X-rays on Taylor’s injured left wrist came back negative. Still, given how the Browns have hitched their wagon to Taylor as the team’s unquestioned starting quarterback in 2018 — much to Mayfield’s chagrin — one has to wonder exactly why Jackson would make such a decision in an utterly meaningless exhibition.
