Watch: Max Muncy takes tumble, lands in fan’s lap on uncatchable ball

Max Muncy has played all over the field for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season. The all-around player was at his most common position of first base during Wednesday night’s 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium.

On one particular play during the fourth inning, however, it appeared Muncy was completely unfamiliar with his surroundings during a popup along the first base line.

The foul pop Muncy was tracking just beyond the first base dugout clearly was drifting back into the seats, well out of reach. That did not stop Muncy from giving the ball a dogged pursuit.

Muncy proceeded to lay out a fan in the seats, landing in their lap, after tumbling over the railing as the ball fell harmlessly several rows beyond his reach.

Grade-A effort out of Muncy on the play, albeit all for naught, and some high-priced concessions paid the price.

All kidding aside, Muncy, after coming out of nowhere, has been a remarkable revelation for the Dodgers this season. But on Wednesday night, his commitment to going all out got the best of him.
