Julio Jones reacts to Jalen Ramsey calling Matt Ryan ‘overrated’
Julio Jones became the latest player to react to how Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey slammed numerous NFL quarterbacks, including Jones’ own teammate, Matt Ryan.
Ramsey of went scorched earth on a large number of NFL signal-callers during a now infamous GQ interview a few weeks back. In Ryan’s case, Ramsey called the Atlanta Falcons quarterback “overrated.”
Jones on Wednesday defended Ryan, although in a somewhat lukewarm manner, making mention Ramsey will get a crack at the the “overrated” quarterback in a preseason matchup on Saturday. Jones, however, will not play.
“He hasn’t faced Matt yet, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion,” Jones said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We are not going to go back and forth with things like that. … Well, he’ll have his opportunity on Saturday to go against Matt. I’m looking forward to it and I know that Matt probably is, too.”
Jones did go on to praise Ramsey as well.
#Falcons FIRE BACK at Jalen Ramsey after Matt Ryan criticism … Julio Jones: “[Ramsey] can play. He’s probably one of the best corners in the league.” Devonta Freeman: “Jalen is Jalen.”

“We’ve got a whole season to look forward, too,” Jones added. “We are going to stay the course and do what we do.”
Some have opted to fight fire with fire when it comes to Ramsey’s disparaging remarks. Jones did not, as was the case with Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, who took a similar approach when reacting to Ramsey trashing teammate Ben Roethlisberger.
Big Ben, it merits mentioning, opted to kill Ramsey with kindness when reacting to the smack talk directed at him.
