Ben Roethlisberger reacts to Jalen Ramsey’s disparaging comments

Ben Roethlisberger for the first time reacted publicly to disparaging comments recently made about him by Jalen Ramsey. And the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback declined to fight fire with fire.

“The awesome thing about this country we live in, everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” Roethlisberger said on Tuesday, via Steelers Depot. “I think he’s a fantastic football player and I think we play them at some point and they got the best of us last year. So, I guess he has the right to say whatever he wants.”

Ramsey went scorched earth on a large number of NFL quarterbacks during a recent GQ interview. Among the quarterbacks who the outspoken Jags corner called out was Big Ben.

“Big Ben [Roethlisberger], I think he’s decent at best… It’s not Big Ben, it’s [Antonio Brown]. Big Ben slings the ball a lot of the time,” Ramsey said in the interview published last week. “He just slings it, and his receivers go get it. He has a strong arm, but he ain’t all that. I played him twice last year, and he really disappointed me. He’ll be in the Hall of Fame and all that.”

Roethlisberger obviously recognizes more bad than good can come from engaging Ramsey on the issue. Instead, Big Ben presumably would prefer to let his play on the field speak for itself. Even better, killing Ramsey with kindness was a nice touch.

Interestingly, Le’Veon Bell, currently away from the Steelers for the second year in a row amid a contract dispute, was subjected to some criticism last week over his cryptic reaction to Ramsey’s chatter about his teammate.
