Dez Bryant, agent still in Cleveland, talks with Browns to continue

Dez Bryant and his agent, Kim Miale, spent the night in Cleveland after meeting with Browns brass on Thursday, according to a report from Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. Ongoing discussions related to a potential contract are expected to continue on Friday.

Cabot reports that Bryant was excited about the visit and the Browns were impressed with the free agent wide receiver.

“I look at Dez as a very competitive, passionate person,” Browns general manager John Dorsey said. “That’s how I look at a Dez Bryant.”

That said, an agreement on a deal is not expected to be completed on Friday, according to a league source.

Bryant made a splash upon his arrival in Cleveland, signing Browns helmet at the airport.

After Thursday’s meeting, Bryant dropped by the in-house radio studio and made some brief comments on Cleveland Browns Daily.

“I’m happy to be here, you know excited, you know just trying to work out some things,” Bryant said.

Bryant added that “it’s a lovely place.”

When host Nathan Zegura observed that Bryant looked good in orange at Oklahoma State, he said, “Yeah, I did. I’d still look good in the brown. We’ll see.”

Bryant is believed to be seeking a “prove-it” deal, which would likely amount to a one-year contract. The wide receiver reportedly rejected a three-year offer from the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the offseason.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out between Bryant and the Browns. There has been no concrete indication when the Browns can expect Josh Gordon to return to the team, although having him back in the fold in time for Week 1’s showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 9 has not been ruled out.

If that’s the case, the Browns would boast a crowded wide receiver corps with Gordon and Jarvis Landry serving as headliners, along with Antonio Callaway. Bryant conceivably could find trouble getting the looks he desires, something that may inspire him to look elsewhere.
