Look: LeBron James mural in L.A. gets jersey update, more Lakers icons

A LeBron James mural in Los Angeles has received an update this week in which his Lakers jersey has been modified. Also added to the picturesque mural are additional Lakers icons to round out the impressive artwork.

The mural, a creation of artist Gustavo Zermeño Jr., now showcases James arms akimbo, regaled in the redesigned Lakers jersey standing in front of Lakers legends, which after the update also includes Jerry Buss, James Worthy, Gail Goodrich, Jamaal Wilkes, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor.

Magic Johnson, Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant are featured as well, amid the backdrop of the iconic Forum and the current home arena of the Lakers (and Clippers), Staples Center. The Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy of course is prominently featured in a testament to the Lakers organization’s longstanding excellence.

There has been no shortage of controversy related to James murals popping up in Los Angeles since King James joined the Lakers, including a handful of instances of vandalism. But it would be surprising if any of the team’s passionate fans took issue with the majesty of this particular mural.
