Dennis Schroder pumped about joining Thunder, shows it on Instagram (pic)
Dennis Schroder is headed to the Oklahoma City Thunder and he could not be more thrilled. The guard took to Instagram on Thursday after the deal was announced and made that much abundantly clear.
Schroder, who had spent his entire five-year NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks, posted a mocked-up image of himself wearing a Thunder uniform, writing “OMG” and a string of emojis in reaction to career-altering news.
Schroder’s opportunity to join a playoff-caliber team arrived due to the Thunder’s dire financial need to cut ties with Carmelo Anthony. The news of the deal, which involved a few other moving parts, was of course broke courtesy of a Woj Bomb.
Oklahoma City has agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony and a protected 2022 first-round pick to Atlanta for point guard Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will be waived, and he will join team of his choice. Rockets are frontrunner.

Sources: Muscala ($5M) is likely headed for a third team in near future. OKC GM Sam Presti and coach Billy Donovan were given permission to talk with Schroder, and they're enthusiastic about partnership. OKC wants more speed, another ball handler. https://t.co/VibPPXzlBW

ESPN’s Royce Young added via Twitter that after speaking with Thunder general manager Sam Presti and head coach Billy Donovan, Schroder “understands his role will be as a sixth man” with the team.
Schroder was widely expected to be traded after the Hawks drafted fellow guard Trae Young with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Schroder averaged a career-high 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from the three-point line.
