Randy Moss mentoring Jameis Winston, working out with Bucs QB (vid)
Embattled quarterback Jameis Winston spent Tuesday working out with soon-to-be Hall of Famer Randy Moss two weeks ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers opening training camp.
Winston, who will open the 2018 NFL season serving a three-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, was featured on video performing drills with Moss in a tweet from Tampa’s FOX13 reporter Kevin O’Donnell.

The NFL conducted a lengthy investigation into an incident in March of 2016 in which Winston was accused by a female Uber driver of groping her during a ride in Arizona. The victim alleged that Winston “reached over and he just grabbed my crotch,” per a BuzzFeed report that broke the story wide open last November.
Winston declined to speak with O’Donnell, although Moss offered up some thoughts on how Winston can get his career back on track.
“He’s doing things right. It’s a bump in the road,” Moss said, via Tampa Bay Online. “Just continue to fight. It happens. What he did was wrong … he knows he was wrong. I think it’s up for him as a man to understand what he did wrong, live and learn from it and let it go.”
Moss without question is well-versed in dealing bumps in the road when it comes to potentially derailing a promising NFL career. So the notion that Moss is mentoring the 24-year-old Bucs quarterback ought to be viewed as an encouraging development.
At a minimum Moss’ support shows that Winston has more than just one teammate in his corner as he navigates his suspension setback. Although the embattled Winston does indeed have his detractors.
