Kevin Durant posts odd Instagram story after DeMarcus Cousins joins Warriors (pic)
The latest seismic move of an eventful NBA offseason sending shock waves through the league came Monday when DeMarcus Cousins elected to join the loaded Golden State Warriors on a reported one-year, $5.3 million deal.
While the narrative has been just how unfair it is for the reigning champions to bring in yet another superstar, there are some interesting nuggets that have surfaced that makes Cousins heading to Golden State perhaps a bit awkward.
Kevin Durant posted a rather interesting Instagram story on Monday evening concerning an incident last season when Cousins attempted to storm the Warriors’ locker room after the two had an on-court altercation and were ejected. In fact, arena security was the only thing that thwarted an “almost altercation” between the two.
I guess Kevin Durant remembers when Demarcus Cousins went in search of him after they were both ejected from a game. From @KDTrey5‘s Instagram story: #Warriors #NBA pic.twitter.com/5653K7OeLE

Here’s what led to the behind-the-scenes chaos:

Interestingly as well, Cousins had a pretty comical reaction while strolling past a Durant post-game interview in 2016. Cousins, still a member of the Sacramento Kings at the time, could not help but shake his head, although inferring what was behind his reaction is not all that clear.
All that said, bad blood in the NBA is situational and a matter of timing and perspective. One needn’t look any further than LeBron James reportedly giving the go-ahead to the Los Angeles Lakers bringing in Lance Stephenson, who once infamously blew in The King’s ear during a game.
Durant presumably does not hold a grudge against Cousins for a tense situation from last season. Instead, it’s likely Durant is just having some fun with the relative, and presumably inconsequential, awkwardness of it all.
