Report: LeBron James selects jersey number he’ll use with Lakers
LeBron James reportedly has settled on the jersey number he’ll wear with the Los Angeles Lakers following Sunday’s announcement he would be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers and heading to L.A. on a four-year, $153.3 million deal.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports that James will continue to use the jersey number he wore with the Cleveland Cavaliers: No. 23.
JUST IN: Once deal goes through, LeBron will be #23 on Lakers. Fanatics has changed number from placeholder of #00 to #23 on jersey preorders. pic.twitter.com/MrIektYHWf

As noted, James wore No. 23 during both his stints with the Cavaliers. However, when James decided to take his talents to South Beach to play for the Miami Heat, he changed to No. 6 and then returned to No. 23 upon his return to Cleveland in 2014.
Suffice to say, now that Fanatics have made the switch from the placeholder No. 00 to the number James reportedly has decided to don with the Lakers, expect preorders for the No. 23 jersey to start selling like wildfire. And odds are James’ No. 23 Lakers jersey soon enough will be the top-selling jersey in the NBA.
