Charles Barkley blasts endless LeBron James chatter
Charles Barkley has already grown incredibly tired of the rampant speculation regarding LeBron James’ future, which does not bode well for him. But that did not stop the outspoken NBA analyst from adding to the endless conjecture, at least as far as the Philadelphia 76ers are concerned.
Barkley made an appearance this week on “The Mike Missanelli Show” on Philly’s 97.5 The Fanatic and made it clear “LeBron Watch 2018” or “The Decision III” is too much for him.
“I’m not gonna let this dude hijack my life,” Barkley said, via Yahoo Sports. “The whole sports world, we sit around like idiots and worry about where this dude is going.”
That said, Barkley doubled down on previous comments made about James’ future, saying there’s no way the Cavs superstar is joining the Sixers. Although this time around, Barkley made his case by arguing the detrimental effect James would have on young 76ers superstars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
“He’s not coming to the Sixers,” Barkley said. “He’s not coming to the Sixers because he needs the ball, Simmons needs the ball and Embiid needs the ball. That would make Simmons useless.”
The 76ers have been tabbed as potential front-runners in the LeBron Sweepstakes, although there will be no shortage of suitors. Simmons and Embiid engaged in a mutual admiration society with James earlier this season. Not only that, it has been suggested that James’ desire to play off the ball at this state in his career make Philadelphia a compelling destination.
James of course could render all discussions moot by exercising his player option and remaining with the Cavaliers instead of opting out of the final year of his deal, although that seems unlikely.
That said, James enjoys the spotlight and relishes controlling his narrative. With that in mind, expect the LeBron drama to play out until the last second, much to Sir Charles’ chagrin.
