J.J. Watt is without question revered in the Houston area not only for his exploits on the field as a superstar defensive end with the Texans but also for the remarkable charitable efforts and community outreach throughout his NFL career.
And now, a billboard has been erected in Houston honoring for his for all his efforts.

Watt of course uses a salute to celebrate sacks during games. Inspired 740 AM KTRH talk show host Michael Berry to salute the superstar in kind for his many acts of philanthropy and goodwill.
“After I saw what he did in Santa Fe, I just felt like we needed to publicly thank him,” Berry said Wednesday, via the Houston Chronicle. “If you consider what he has done after Harvey, and then what he did with the funerals in Santa Fe, it just felt right.”
Berry is of course referring to how Watt offered to pay for the funerals for those slain in the May shooting at Santa Fe High School that left 10 dead and 10 other wounded. Berry also mentioned how Watt raised more than $37 million to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief, a remarkable charitable effort that earned him an honorary doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine.
Watt on Tuesday evening took to Twitter to react to the billboard tribute.
Ah man that is very badass!
I consider myself very lucky and fortunate to have ended up here in Houston and able to enjoy such a special bond with this city. Truly feels like family. https://t.co/laiNeoOttQ— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) June 5, 2018
The billboard will remain up at its current location until the end of June.
