Groom wins SB bet with bride, dons Carson Wentz jersey at wedding (vid)
The recent nuptials of Jennifer Sullivan and Patrick Hanks certainly featured an out-of-the-ordinary NFL flair, and a bet between the bride and groom over the outcome of the Super Bowl LII served as the inspiration.
The Pennsylvania couple made a wager on the outcome of the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots. Sullivan believed the Patriots presented a far-too-difficult challenge for the home-state Eagles. Hanks, meanwhile, kept the faith.
The terms of the bet were that if the Eagles could pull off the upset, Hanks could rock his Carson Wentz jersey at the game. Of course, the Eagles shocked the world, upending the dynastic Patriots by a score of 41-33. And that was without Wentz, as backup Nick Foles went on to earn MVP honors.
Hanks nevertheless got to don his Wentz jersey during last weekend’s ceremony. Tag Visual Media’s Matt Carson captured the momentous event, which was later shared on social media by CBS News.
