Nick Young: Dennis Rodman came to him in dream, told him to play defense (vid)
When one thinks of Nick Young, one of the last words that will come up is defense. More often, things along the lines of ill-advised three’s, his drama with D’Angelo Russell, and his “Swaggy P” nickname.
However, on Saturday night Young came off the bench and played great wing defense in the second half of the Golden State Warriors’ 115-86 throttling of the Houston Rockets in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.
Young stated after the game that his increased defensive effort was a result of a dream he had the previous night.

Nick Young: Dennis Rodman came into my dream last night and said tomorrow you gonna play a little defense and I said nah that's not my game, but I guess I played a little defense.

If one had a choice of a defensive player to rely upon deep in the NBA playoffs, Rodman is on top of the list. So, it looks like the right guy emerged in Young’s dream if that’s what is behind his uptick in intensity on the defensive end of the court. If Young turns into an elite perimeter defender now — this could be the real-life version of when Babe Ruth appeared in the dream of Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez and inspired him to get the ball.
Golden State now heads to Houston for Game 7 Monday night with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. On the road in Houston at Toyota Center, the Warriors will need to bring a lot of intensity to their perimeter defense, especially if Chris Paul returns for the game and Eric Gordon, James Harden and Trevor Ariza beginning to get in a shooting groove.
