Draymond Green guarantees Warriors will force Game 7 vs. Rockets
The Houston Rockets held serve at home Thursday night, beating the Golden State Warriors by a score of 98-94 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals at Toyota Center.
The Rockets now hold a 3-2 lead with the series heading back to Oakland for Game 6 Saturday night and the Warriors fighting for their playoff lives. But to hear from Golden State’s outspoken superstar Draymond Green, there’s no doubt the Warriors will defend their home and force a Game 7 back in Houston on Monday.
“We’ll be back here for Game 7,” Green said after the loss, via ESPN.
In light of his bold statement, Green was subsequently asked about the Warriors’ inconsistency in consecutive losses to the Rockets that turned a 2-1 series lead into Golden State finding themselves on the brink of elimination.
“You’d be a fool not to believe me,” Green said. “If you don’t ever believe anything I say, believe this: We’re a group of champions.”
The Warriors have been unstoppable at home during their recent run of postseason excellence, having won an NBA playoff-record 16 straight games at Oracle Arena until Tuesday’s 95-92 loss to the Rockets Tuesday night in Game 4. Such home-court dominance should give the Warriors confidence heading into Game 6 despite Tuesday’s setback.
Regarding Green’s guarantee, it merits noting he played an integral — and critically damaging — role in sealing the Warriors’ Game 5 loss when the following play occurred in the waning moments of Thursdays’ showdown.

Green’s gaffe was one of two critical miscues in the clutch — although the one above was the most damaging — by the star that sent the Warriors to only their second Game 5 loss since 2015. Suffice to say, Green will be extremely motivated to atone for his late-game mistakes in a win-or-go-home Game 6 at Oracle on Saturday night.
