DeMarcus Cousins has odd explanation for unfollowing Pelicans on IG
DeMarcus Cousins raised some eyebrows — and presumably caused some consternation among New Orleans Pelicans fans — on Tuesday by unfollowing the team on Instagram.
Although it is Cousins’ explanation for the decision to alert his 2.6 million followers to do so that makes the situation even more odd.
The reason provided by Cousins when asked by a fan why he is no longer a follower of the Pelicans on Instagram evidently is, to use his exact words, “Cause I’m grown.”

Despite the briefness of Cousins’ curt and perplexing response there is certainly a lot to unpack from it.
The alarming split from the Pelicans, at least as far as the temperamental nature of social media world is concerned, is that Cousins is set to hit free agency in the offseason.
Reports have suggested the Pelicans are inclined to offer Cousins a short-term contract in light of his season-ending injury, which occurred when Cousins suffered a torn left Achilles’ tendon in late January.
Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, however, stated after the team was eliminated from the postseason by the Golden State Warriors that it “goes without saying” that team wants Cousins to return in 2018-19.
All that said, the word in league circles in recent weeks was that it was conceivable Cousins would be back in The Big Easy next season. Given Cousins’ social media activity, perhaps that’s arguably not as likely as once believed.
