Stanley Cup Twitter account jokingly breaks up with Penguins
The Washington Capitals on Monday at long last exorcised the team’s longstanding postseason demons by overcoming the team’s perpetual playoff nemesis with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 to take the semifinal series.
The game-winner came in OT courtesy of Evgeny Kuznetsov, setting off a cathartic celebration for the Caps.
Geez, @Kuzya92 and the @Capitals couldn't have made things any more suspenseful than this.

The Penguins of course are coming off back-to-back championships, meaning for the first time in years Lord Stanley’s Cup will be hoisted by a team other than the squd led by Sidney Crosby.
The official Twitter account of the Stanley Cup — an odd notion in and of itself that the trophy has its own handle — had some fun at the Penguins’ expense by more or less sending out a breakup tweet to the team.
It's been a great two years @penguins but I think it's time we see other people.

Well played. Meanwhile, the Capitals will make their first appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals since 1998 in a showdown with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
