Vikings’ Mike Zimmer leads ‘Skol’ chant at Kenny Chesney concert (vids)

Mike Zimmer over his many years in the NFL has cultivated a reputation of being the quintessential old-school, no-nonsense coach.

Well, over the weekend, Zimmer definitely played against type and cut loose a bit during a concert from country-music superstar Kenny Chesney at U.S. Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings.

Zimmer got up on stage with Chesney at some point during the show Saturday night and led the nearly 50,000 concert revelers in the Vikings’ trademark fan chant (vids via Daily Norsemen):

That display out of Zimmer certainly is not what is expected out of the frequently cantankerous coach. Then again, Zimmer is known to decompress from the overwhelming pressures of his job by enjoying a little wine from time to time, so perhaps imbibing upon a few glasses loosened him up a little bit.

Either way, it was quite the scene and one Vikings fans will love to see out of their revered head coach. And it’s not the first time, either, that Zimmer has surprised people by doing something that does not exactly jibe with his public persona.
