Shaq predicts Paul George and LeBron James will sign with Lakers

As the NBA playoffs get into full swing, the dramatic offseason that awaits is getting nearer. Of course, the most intriguing story line involves the uncertain future of LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and obviously the Cleveland Cavaliers are among the teams that could be considered by the King. According to former Laker and current TNT analyst Shaquille O’Neal, the Lakers will not only get LeBron but Paul George as well.

“I think Paul George … he’s going to L.A., he’s definitely going to the Lakers,” Shaq said on his podcast, as transcribed by Dime Mag. “Him and LeBron, him and LeBron. You heard it here first. I’m just saying this is just my opinion, LeBron, Paul George, and it’ll be a couple other big names that go to the Laker organization.”

The “LeBron to the Lakers” hot takes have been running rampant since last June. So, the notion seems like old news now to the NBA world. With Shaq’s specific quote, I am sure there is bias and perhaps even irrational hope involved.

However, with the way the Cavaliers’ dysfunctional regular season has played out (although the postseason has been another story) — along with the way the young Lakers core grew during the season, the speculation conceivably could gain momentum again.

It has been reported that George is almost certain to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder. The hometown Lakers currently are believed to be the biggest player in the George sweepstakes. There currently is not a definitive front-runner in the LeBron sweepstakes yet, but a lot of signs indicate his reign in Cleveland could be ending soon.
