Kevin Love: Cavs have ‘good shot’ at title despite LeBron James’ uncertain future
The NBA playoffs begin on Saturday with four games, with the Cleveland Cavaliers beginning their run at another appearance in the NBA Finals on Sunday. Despite a complete roster turnover, never-ending drama, and the possibility of LeBron James leaving in free agency, Kevin Love believes the Cavaliers are title contenders. Although Love also knows what is at stake with LeBron’s uncertain future.
Love was asked by if LeBron’s decision could affect the Cavs’ playoff run.
“It definitely could,” Love told ESPN on Friday. “But only one person knows what he’s thinking and that’s ‘Bron. I think at the end of the day, we would love to have a long run, but that’s going to be up to not only him but all of us. And you know I don’t mean only the players, but the coaching staff and everybody. I mean, really getting on board and, you know, sticking to our schemes and playing great basketball.”
It is no secret that LeBron James will be weighing all of his options in his expected free agency. There have been rumors about interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and even the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers, with some team’s fans even making pitches via billboards.
With the rumors swirling, returning to the Cavaliers is still in play for LeBron’s camp. The Cavaliers will enter the NBA playoffs as the fourth overall seed in the Eastern Conference and will play the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Despite the uncharacteristically low seed, they have won 11 of their last 14 games and are still the favorite to win the east.
