Tom Brady reportedly may miss start of Patriots’ offseason program
The notion that Tom Brady may miss the first day of the New England Patriots’ offseason program arguably could be inferred as a cause for alarm. But Brady’s possible absence has nothing to do with the ongoing drama plaguing involving himself and the Patriots’ organization.
Instead, a report from The MMQB’s Albert Greer indicates Brady is heading to Qatar to perform charitable work for his Best Buddies organization.
The Patriots’ offseason begins Monday morning and Brady is not expected to return to the U.S. until later in the day, per the report.
Given Brady’s charitable trip comes amid the months-long saga involving alleged internal strife within the Patriots organization — specifically involving a purported power struggle among Brady, Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft — some may infer that Brady could be sending some kind of message. Odds are that is not the case.
And if Kraft happens to be asked about the situation? The Patriots owner will likely take the same approach used beforehand when it comes to downplaying allegations of organizational dysfunction.
That said, an argument could be forwarded that Brady should have planned the timing of his trip to better accommodate the Patriots’ offseason calendar. But in all likelihood Brady’s potential absence is much ado about nothing.
