Robert Griffin III appreciates how Ravens ‘have given me this opportunity’

The Ravens on Wednesday formally introduced Robert Griffin III, 28, after signing him earlier this month to a one-year deal.

And RG3 appreciates how the Ravens “have given me this opportunity.”

Griffin of course spent a year in NFL purgatory in 2017, sitting out the entire season after failing to catch on with a team. Now given the chance to resurrect his career backing up veteran Joe Flacco, RG3 is looking to take advantage of it.

“I really do look forward to getting in the quarterback room with him,” Griffin said of working with Flacco, via Pro Football Talk. “It’s a great opportunity for me. I still feel like I’m a young player. I’m 28, but feel like I’m 25. He’s been through a lot of things in his career. He’s been to the pinnacle, won the Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP. I think that’s a great opportunity to learn from him.”

Griffin added in his comments Wednesday that he “probably haven’t felt this good since I came out of college” after having his NFL career derailed by a series of injuries. And he’s eager to show the Ravens what he can do.

“I think that’s kind of what [the Ravens] are excited about, [which] is I’m not just relying on what I did in the past,” Griffin said, via The Baltimore Sun. “I want to show them the player that I am, the player that I can be moving forward. So it’s time to let that stuff go and move forward as a new player, a better player, a grown player. And that’s what I’m excited about and I’m glad that they saw that in me and have given me this opportunity.”

It goes without saying that the 2018 campaign could very well be the last chance for Griffin to reestablish his place in the NFL. While playing time is by no means assured by any stretch, RG3 will have to seize the moment if and when it does.
