Kobe Bryant gives shout-out to Ogunbowale for ‘big time shot’ game-winner

Friday night, Notre Dame eked out a victory over the undefeated UConn women’s team by a score of 91-89 courtesy of a clutch, last-second jump shot. And an NBA icon took notice.

Here’s how thrilling conclusion played out on the floor:

This snapped an unblemished 36-0 record for UConn and marks the second year in a row that the team lost on a last-second shot in the Final Four. After the game, Kobe Bryant took to Twitter to congratulate Arike and Notre Dame:

Arike saw the tweet and responded in excitement:

It’s not every day you hit a game-winner and get a shout-out from the Black Mamba. But Kobe is making sure Arike knows the job is not finished:

Notre Dame will now play Mississippi State in the National Championship Game. MSU was in the title game last season after defeating UConn, but lost 67-55 to South Carolina.
