Bridgestone rolls out special-edition Tiger Woods golf balls (pic)

Tiger Woods over the past month has made the case that after years of injuries, surgeries and adversity, he may at long last be back. Bridgestone, not surprisingly as Woods’ official golf ball sponsor in the wake of Nike Golf’s demise, has rolled out a new special edition ball in tribute to Tiger’s return to the prowl.

The ball, called the Tour B XS Tiger Woods Edition, features “Tiger” on one side and Bridgestone “B” logo on the reverse side.

Woods without question has restored himself to respectability at the very least since his return to competitive golf over the past few months. He placed 12th in late February at the Honda Classic. Next was a tied-for-second showing by posting a 9-under a few weeks ago at the Valspar Championship. A 10-under showing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational yielded a tie for fifth.

Further, Woods currently occupies the 40th spot in the FedEx Cup standings and ranks 104th overall in the World Golf Rankings.

Up next for Woods? A date at Augusta National Golf Club next month, where he’ll continue his pursuit of Jack Nicklaus’ major record by seeking his fifth Masters win and 15th-overall major title.

A year ago, suggesting Woods would somehow return to form — much less being listed among the favorites at the Masters — would have inspired mockery and scorn. And now? It doesn’t seem all that laughable anymore.
