Johnny Manziel continues to make inroads at resurrecting his NFL career with the latest accomplishment being an impressive performance during a workout in front of team scouts Thursday during the University of San Diego’s pro day.
In fact, the 25-year-old quarterback says his showing Thursday in front of a reported 13 team scouts leaves him “hopeful” that another shot at resuming his NFL career could be on the horizon.
“I’m hopeful with where things are at. I’m happy with my wife, I’m happy with my life … I’m doing well, I have no complaints,” the newlywed Manziel told a TMZ crew alongside bride Bre Tiesi. “I’m a lot better off than I was in the past.”

With Thursday’s strong showing in mind, the chances of Manziel resurrecting his football career nevertheless remain at a crossroads. There’s no shortage of baggage when it comes to Manziel, obviously. As it stands, the former Browns quarterback is expected to play in the Spring League barring an offer from an NFL team. He also has been pursuing a potential comeback in the Canadian Football League.
Manziel clearly is very serious about resuming his football career and has been incredibly candid about the troubles that led to his NFL purgatory. But with each step in the process, Manziel is demonstrating that perhaps his days in the NFL are not necessarily in the rear-view mirror. All he’s asking for is a second chance. It only remains to be seen if a team is willing to offer him one.
