Tom Brady: Gisele is ‘so supportive’ of my decision to continue NFL career
Much has been made of Gisele Bundchen’s weariness and concern over husband Tom Brady’s NFL career over the past year. So much so, in fact, that reports have surfaced suggesting Bundchen want Brady to retire. But to hear it from Brady himself, his wife is “so supportive” of his decision to keep playing.
“At the end of the day, she’s been such a supportive wife, and been so supportive of my career,” Brady told PEOPLE. “I think she wants me to continue to do what I love and continue taking care of myself and, you know, make sure I’m still really present for my kids when they need me and still available to everyone in the family because our kids aren’t getting any younger.”
Bundchen, in a clip from Brady’s Facebook documentary “Tom vs. Time,” suggested that football is the “main love” of her husband. However, that has not prevented Bundchen from apparently attempting to get one of Brady’s former NFL-playing pals to convince him to retire.
Further, it merits noting Bündchen stunned the NFL world ahead of the 2017 season by claiming Brady has suffered multiple concussions during his career.
That said, there’s little other choice but to take Brady at his word about Bundchen’s ongoing support of his career. That is, unless Bundchen indicates otherwise at some point.
As for Brady, it would appear he’s adamant about playing in the NFL as long as he can.
“I love playing and I want to keep going ’cause I think there’s more to achieve and I still think I can play at a really high level,” Brady said. “As long as I’m willing to make the commitment, my family gets the time they need, [then] hopefully I can keep playing the game I love.”
