Von Miller: Kirk Cousins would make Broncos Super Bowl contenders

Von Miller continued his aggressive recruitment of Kirk Cousins this week by proclaiming the Denver Broncos would become Super Bowl contenders simply by signing the soon-to-be free agent quarterback.

Miller, who has had to qualms about making comments about how the Broncos should bring in Cousins, made his most recent pitch during an appearance Tuesday on ESPN’s “First Take.”

“He’s just that type of player,” Miller said of Cousins, as transcribed by The Denver Post. “He not only would be a difference-maker to my team, but any team he goes to in the National Football League. It’s an instant upgrade, leadership, he can throw and make all the passes on the field. So, yeah, when you get a guy like that, you’re automatically in Super Bowl contention.”

The Broncos lack the financial flexibility other NFL teams boast in pursuing Cousins, who will command a monstrous, perhaps unprecedented payday. But that has not stopped Miller from stating the Broncos’ case.

“[Kirk] knows exactly how I feel about Kirk Cousins and what he’d mean to our team,” Miller said on “The Dan Patrick Show” during a January appearance. “And what he would mean to a lot of other teams. He’s the hot quarterback on the market right now. … Yeah, we need Kirk. We need Kirk. I’d like to have Kirk. We have great quarterbacks now. Kirk could take us over the edge. But it’s the National Football League — there are a lot of teams that need Kirk.”

Miller took it to another level in February by commenting on a social media dispatch from Cousins on cereal, of all things.

As it stands, the Broncos would seem to still be in the hunt for Cousins, although many pundits believe the Minnesota Vikings are the front-runners. That said, reports suggest Cousins has not eliminated any team as a possibility.

Cousins, however, reportedly places a high value on winning, so it would appear the Vikings and the Broncos may be his most ideal landing spots when compared to other potential suitors. It’s clear Miller will do all he can to convince Cousins of just that.
