LeBron James: ‘Pretty cool’ to be first ever with 30K points, 8K rebounds, 8K assists

LeBron James on Tuesday night achieved an incredibly remarkable career milestone that put him in an exclusive company of one in the NBA. And he not surprisingly finds it “pretty cool.”

With his 11 assists in Tuesday’s James became the only player in NBA history to have 30,000 points, 8,000 rebounds and 8,000 assists in his career.

And how does James feel about it?

“It’s pretty cool,” James said after the Cleveland Cavaliers dispatched the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 129-123.

James is now 11th in career assists. Not only that, with his 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in Tuesday win, James notched his fourth triple double in the month of February. The Cavs superstar finished the month of February averaging a triple double (27.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 10.5 assists).

“I always wanted to be labeled as just an all-around basketball player and I get more gratification out of the assist more than anything because to get my guys great looks or they’re knocking down shots, that means a lot to me,” James said.

James’ thoughts on his latest achievement — as well as reaction from Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue — follows in the video below.

“Wow. Helluva achievement,” Lue said. “I mean, yeah, especially coming into the league, he’s a pass first guy. Unselfish. To score 30,000 points in elite company, but, to do all the other things he does shows he’s a complete all around player and probably one of the best out game has seen as far as all-around passing, dribbling, powerful, shooting the basketball, scoring. Just a great player.”

Notching milestone after milestone — at an unprecedented clip — has likely become old hat for James at this stage in his stellar career. But that does not mean he doesn’t savor each and every one upon arrival.
