Pelicans troll Skip Bayless on Twitter over calling Anthony Davis overrated

The New Orleans Pelicans weren’t about to allow sports media provocateur Skip Bayless get away with even insinuating that Anthony Davis is overrated. Even better, the Pelicans expertly trolled Bayless by making mention of an embarrassing allegation about the FOX Sports 1 talking head.

Bayless, as he is wont to do, threw out the arguably ludicrous hot take about Davis on Twitter in a bid to promote an upcoming edition of his “Undisputed” program. In the tweet, Bayless teases how he’s going to explain on the show why he thinks Davis is in fact overrated.

Davis is coming off a 53-point, 18-rebound, three-assist and five-block performance in Monday’s 125-116 victory over the Phoenix Suns. It would mark the Pelicans’ sixth-straight victory, leaving the team 34-26 and sitting as the fifth seed in the loaded Western Conference.

Davis is averaging over 40 points per game during the Pelicans’ win streak, all the more remarkable given how the team was left for dead when DeMarcus Cousins went down with a season-ending injury. And then there’s this:

That kind of productivity ought to usher in talk of Davis being a legitimate MVP candidate. But not for Bayless, obviously. So, in response, the Pelicans’ official Twitter account made mention of the rumor that Bayless actually may have once used a burner social media account to promote himself and his show.

Boom. Roasted.
