Jameis Winston cited for careless driving after ‘minor collision’
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has been cited for careless driving after being involved in a minor collision last week.
Florida Highway Patrol report indicates Winston failed to reduce speed in time as traffic backed up on Veterans Expressway and could not avoid rear-ending a car with his Ford F250. The accident occurred on Feb. 13 at approximately 5:05 p.m., per the report.
Winston, the report notes, “operated the vehicle in a careless or negligent manner,” but did not appear to be distracted.
Damages were estimated to be approximately $2,000 each for both vehicles.
No injuries were reported and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
Winston is subject to a $153 fine on the careless driving charge. It merits noting Winston remains under investigation after a female Uber driver accused him of groping her during a ride in Arizona in March 2016. The Bucs quarterback previously claimed to have “no fear” of an NFL suspension once the investigation is completed.
