Patriots fan with Super Bowl LII champs tattoo has great backup plan (pic)

A New England Patriots fan clearly confident that his beloved NFL team will emerge victorious once Super Bowl LII is in the books laid it all on the line by getting a tattoo celebrating the assumed victory.

Eddy Ferrini, a 21-year-old college student, took to Instagram this week to showcase his new ink, which along with predicting a victory Sunday over the Philadelphia Eagles, celebrates the Patriots’ previous five Super Bowl titles.

“I’ve wanted to get the Roman numerals of the Super Bowls for a long time now,” Ferrini told the Boston Globe in an instant message, via CBS Sports. “And I think the Pats are a lock to win the game.”

Perhaps Ferrini should get in touch with this Eagles fan to compare tats.

Every time a fan gets a preemptive championship tattoo people come out in droves to rip the individual for tempting fate and potentially jinxing the team. A Dallas Cowboys fan who got a Super Bowl LI champs tattoo actually received death threats over his ink.

Ferrini objects to such a notion, and makes a pretty good point in the process.

“I just don’t understand why grown men and women actually believe that a fan getting a tattoo will have an impact on Bill Belichick and Tom Brady — the two GOATS,” Ferrini said. “I don’t believe in any of that jinx or superstition stuff.”

That said, predictive tattoos boasting of future championship glory of course rarely ends up with a happy ending. Just ask this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy, as their respective boastful tattoo predictions didn’t pan out for them.

After all, rarely does it happen that folks who get championship tattoos make out like this Seahawks fan.

Back to Ferrini, though. What is his plan should the Patriots fall short and get upset by the Eagles?

“If they lose, they’ll win next year — so I’ll add on another ‘I,'” Ferrini said.

Well played.
