Comedian sneaks onto court, participates in warmups with Pelicans (vid)
The New Orleans Pelicans had an extra “player” participating in warmups on Sunday night when a fan got in on the action before the team lost 112-103 to the visiting Los Angeles Clippers.
It turns out the court infiltrator was comedian Tony Roberts, per The Times-Picayune. In New Orleans for injured superstar DeMarcus Cousins’ “Boogie’s Comedy Slam” held Saturday night, Roberts donned Pelicans gear to blend in with the players. The comedian amusingly stretched out for a little while before actually getting the chance to put up a practice shot.
Roberts’ momentary brush with NBA greatness was sadly thwarted when a Smoothie King Center security guard escorted him back to his courtside seat.

It goes without saying the security guard wasn’t as amused by Roberts’ antics as the guy filming the action. In fact, the guard looked downright angry. Roberts obviously was willing to draw the guard’s ire in the name of comedy. Anything for a laugh, right?
