CC Sabathia loving Yankees’ return to being ‘hated’ Evil Empire

CC Sabathia for one is relieved that order has been restored to the baseball universe as the New York Yankees are once again viewed as MLB’s “Evil Empire.”

The feel-good story line about how the “Baby Bombers” overachieved last season was an entertaining one, to be sure. The acquisition of NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, which will solidify a murderer’s row of sluggers that already included Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, among others, has the Yankees feeling on top of the world once again. And “hated,” as Sabathia put it.

“Last year, we were the team that everybody loved, that feel-good story,” Sabathia said Thursday on MLB Network, via the New York Post. “But getting Giancarlo [Stanton] just brings us back to being that hated team. That’s what we like. We want to go out there, put the best team on the field and crush everybody every game.”

Perhaps the most troubling aspect of Yankees’ return to glory — at least for every other MLB organization — is how the team do not appear to be quite done bolstering the roster, as the team reportedly aims to remain major players in a Hot Stove season that has yet to really start cooking.

One major league manager who knows a thing or two about tussling with a Yankees team that surprised the baseball world by reaching the ALCS last season warned teams the loaded Bronx Bombers lineup is poised to “bludgeon” teams in 2018. It sounds like Sabathia feels the same way.
