Ben Roethlisberger wants another crack at Jags in playoffs after five-INT game
If Ben Roethlisberger had his druthers, the Pittsburgh Steelers would play host to a specific team at Heinz Field in the divisional round of the AFC Playoffs.
“I’ll give you guys one guess who you think I want to play,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday during an interview on 93.7 The Fan, via ESPN.
And the team Roethlisberger his hinting at would be the Jacksonville Jaguars. And the main motivation for Big Ben for angling for a game against the Jaguars? So he could atone for one of the worst performances of his career.
Roethlisberger threw a career-worst five interceptions — including two that went for pick-sixes — in the Steelers’ humbling 30-9 loss to the Jags in Week 5. To put that in perspective, Roethlisberger thew only seven interceptions over the next 10 games while leading the Steelers to a 9-1 record.
“Obviously any game that we’re going to play — since it’s the postseason — is going to be a difficult opponent, but I think just for me personally I’d love to just prove that five interceptions wasn’t me in that game,” Roethlisberger added.
Roethlisberger would get his wish of the Steelers drawing the Jaguars if Jacksonville defeats the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round.
