Genie Bouchard reconnects with Super Bowl LI Twitter date John Goehrke (pic)

Tennis star Genie Bouchard took to social media on Wednesday to alert her fans that she recently spent some time hanging out with John Goehrke, the guy who amazingly won a date with her courtesy of a Super Bowl LI bet waged on Twitter.

Bouchard posted a pic of the “couple” on Instagram with a message that read, “Look who came to visit me!”

The wager — and subsequent date — was greeted with great fanfare, especially in light of how Bouchard actually honored the terms of the bet. Bouchard was pulling for the Atlanta Falcons, so Goehrke laid out a bet that if the New England Patriots won, she would have to go out on a date with him. Bouchard surprisingly agreed to the offer, tweeting “sure” in response.

The timing of the bet happened to occur with the Falcons up big time over the Patriots. Of course, we all know what happened next, as the Patriots stormed back from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit to win in overtime in a historic 34-28 comeback victory.

Once all the dust settled, the date was arranged, and the two ended up attending a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center on Feb. 16.

What the future holds for these social media star-crossed lovers remains to be seen. But it’s pretty cool the two reconnected once again after all this time. All indications point towards perhaps something significant coming out of such an odd way to meet a potential partner.
