Marc Gasol fined $15K by NBA for swearing during live television interview
Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for “working blue” on live television during a postgame interview earlier this week.
A statement issued Wednesday from Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations stated Gasol was fined for “using profane language during a live television interview.”
Gasol ran afoul of the NBA’s understandable sensibilities when it comes to profanity on live TV after the Grizzlies defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday by a score of 95-92 at FedEx Forum.
The victory snapped a Grizzlies’ 11-game losing streak. Suffice to say, Gasol was pretty pumped up about it.
Gasol opened his comments with, “It’s the happiest win of a regular-season game that I ever had.” He closed the interview by saying, “Overall, we won. F— it.”
