Kristaps Porzingis on write-in vote for NY mayor: ‘Ready for the job’
Kristaps Porzingis is giving New York Knicks fans hope for the future with an MVP-caliber performance early on this NBA season. Who says the budding NBA superstar couldn’t do the same for all New Yorkers?
A wiseneheimer Knicks fan cast his ballot for Porzingis via a write-in vote during Tuesday’s mayoral election in New York.
NBC News’ Benjy Sarlin tweeted out an image of the pro-Porzingis ballot.

Incumbent Bill de Blasio was elected to lead City Hall for a second-term with relative ease, but Porzingis nevertheless was flattered by the write-in vote.
“That’s pretty funny. I think I’m definitely ready for the job,” Porzingis told ESPN with a laugh. “People have a lot of imagination.”
A budding political career may not be realistic at this point but at least Porzingis can take solace in being named on Monday as the Eastern Conference player of the week after averaging 33.5 points in four games. New Yorkers, including the Knicks fan who cat his ballot for Porzingis, probably are perfectly fine with the outcome of that vote.
